Need a business miracle?
- by Don Jennings
How about seeing your people do more work for the same pay?
How much 'free' labor do you want?
There are people in every career path that you can think of, who go to work every day and do more than is expected and more than they are paid to do simply because they want to. How is that possible? It is called discretionary work. Discretionary work is all of those little things that an employee will do, not for pay, but because they actually want to help the company succeed, when certain conditions exist in a company.
Just because an employee has been trained, is producing high revenue and profits for the company and is making more money for themselves, you shouldn't think you are getting the best that they have to give. Do you have employees who are doing just enough to keep their jobs? How do you get them to give their best every day?
Marketing programs and sales presentations for years have used the strategy of "good, better, best" to attract buyers to their products and services. The same concept can be very effective when applied to developing the people in your company.
• It is good to train an employee to do their job well.
• It is better to train an employee to do their job well and teach them how to grow in personal self worth.
• It is best to train an employee to do their job well, teach them how to grow in personal self-worth and help their spouse and family secure their future working with your company.
Are you ready for your miracle?
